Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: 12 January 2026
At MCP Consultancies we believe in transparency and integrity when recommending products and services to our visitors. This Affiliate Disclosure is designed to explain how and why we use affiliate links on our website and to ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry guidelines.
What Are Affiliate Links?
Affiliate links are special hyperlinks that track traffic or sales generated from our recommendations. When you click one of these links and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission or other compensation from the merchant, at no additional cost to you. This compensation helps support our work and allows us to keep providing free, high‑quality content.
Affiliate links can take different forms—commission on sales, pay‑per‑lead programs, performance bonuses or flat fees. Regardless of the compensation model, we treat all affiliate links as material connections that must be disclosed. According to the FTC’s Endorsement Guides, any material connection—such as paid partnerships, gifted products, affiliate links, discounts, trips or other benefits—must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed. This disclosure should be hard to miss and appear near the endorsement or link itself.
Our Participation in Affiliate Programs
MCP Consultancies participates in various affiliate marketing programs run by reputable networks and merchants. Some examples may include Amazon Associates, ClickBank, PartnerStack and other software or SaaS referral programs. When we join an affiliate program, we agree to abide by its terms and all applicable advertising laws.
Please note that our participation in an affiliate program does not influence the price you pay. You pay the same amount whether you use our affiliate link or go directly to the merchant’s website.
How We Use Affiliate Links
- Honest recommendations: We only promote products or services that we believe offer value to our readers. Our opinions are based on our professional experience and research. We do not accept payment or free products in exchange for positive reviews, nor do we condition compensation on positive sentiment. This practice aligns with the FTC’s Consumer Review Rule, which prohibits paying for fake reviews or tying compensation to review sentiment.
- Clear placement: We place affiliate disclosures where you’re likely to see them. The FTC recommends positioning the disclosure near the affiliate link or within the same paragraph. We avoid hiding disclosures in footnotes, sidebars or after long blocks of text. The disclosure also appears at the top of this page and may be repeated within our articles.
- Plain language: We use straightforward wording such as “This post may contain affiliate links” or “We may earn a commission when you buy through this link.” The FTC notes that clear, simple language is essential and warns against jargon, abbreviations or defensive language. We do not rely solely on hashtags like #ad or #sponsored; instead, we use them in addition to plain text to ensure clarity.
- Proper labelling in the UK/EU: For visitors from the UK or EU, we adhere to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and CAP Codes. The ASA considers affiliate links and commission‑based promotions as advertising. Acceptable labels include “Ad” or “Advertisement,” and ambiguous terms like “Sponsored” or “Gifted” are not sufficient. We therefore label posts containing affiliate links with clear terms, ensuring our commercial relationship is obvious.
- Honest content: Any claims we make about products or services are truthful and based on our knowledge. The FTC requires that claims are substantiated, especially in sensitive categories like health or finance. We do not make misleading statements or guarantee results.
Why We Disclose
- Legal compliance: The FTC requires disclosures to protect consumers from deceptive marketing. Failing to disclose a commission can be considered deceptive. Similar requirements exist in other jurisdictions, including the ASA in the UK and the European Union’s Unfair Commercial Practices Directive and Digital Services Act.
- Transparency and trust: Disclosing affiliate relationships helps maintain transparency with our audience. Transparency fosters trust and credibility, which is essential for us as a digital marketing consultancy. Studies indicate that a majority of consumers value transparency when engaging with influencers and affiliates.
- Ethical marketing: We believe that integrity is at the heart of sustainable marketing. We want you to make informed decisions and understand when our recommendations may result in compensation.
Identifying Affiliate Links on Our Site
We mark affiliate links clearly in several ways:
- A short statement near the link indicating that it is an affiliate link (e.g., “This link is an affiliate link, meaning we may earn a commission”).
- A disclosure at the top or bottom of each article containing affiliate links.
- In social media posts, we may use hashtags like #ad or #affiliate in addition to plain text disclosures to signal a commercial relationship.
If you have any questions about how we label affiliate links, please contact us.
Third‑Party Products and Services
The products and services featured via affiliate links are provided by third parties. We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their products, services or any issues that arise from your use of them. We encourage you to review the terms, conditions and privacy policies of any third‑party site you visit.
Amendments to This Disclosure
We may update this Affiliate Disclosure from time to time to reflect changes in our affiliate relationships, laws or industry guidelines. When we make material updates, we will revise the “Last updated” date and may place a notice on our website. We encourage you to review this Disclosure periodically.
